Alex hates it and I love it. We’ll likely tame it down and run a straight-through glass pack eventually but damn it sounds like a race car now. What do you guys think?

If it doesn’t sound like racecar you haven’t done your job. I want a Fujisubo muffler for the Z, I also saw there are some guys making Abarth exhausts for Datsuns, google that. They look cool too like the Z432 twin under over exhaust tips.

It’s an antisocial level of loud. When Alex leaves my place I can hear him driving away for several blocks.

It does that just a little bit. Not as much as the Corvette. maybe its a factor of the SU carbs versus a “normal” carb.

Has it got a bunch of exhaust leaks or is the timing not quite right?

It just doesn’t sound right until you really get up on the rpms

You mean before or after we removed the muffler? It didn’t have any exhaust leaks before or after. Just how it idles I suppose.

If the GMC’s loud as hell, and the Vette is the Vette and the Datsun still sounds like this in the summer, I’ll have to bring my car with the side dump and my buddy will have to bring his loud-ass corn fed P7B sometime so we can go through the Jane underpass in convoy.

I’m looking to get the Legalis R for my Z as well. I met with Eiji at Datsun Spirit two weeks ago (he’s rebuild my motor). His white Z has this wicked custom made exhaust header straight from Japan. It’s got a 3" collector and it’s a work of art.

I rebuilt the original engine but I haven’t got a header or anything fancy for the exhaust. I don’t really know what header is on it, probably stock. My exhaust is 2.5" though and the muffler is pretty loud, no resonator. I might get that Abarth exhaust, it would be crazy to have on the Z, they are good too.
